Who am I?

My name is Sherry TerrelI. I am a Boone-County girl through and through; I was born and raised right here in Boone County where I have created my life and career. I am married to Jason Terrell, who is the Sergeant Court Marshal for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Callaway County. Together, we have six amazing and supportive sons, ages 23 to 33. We also have three equally awesome daughter-in-loves and a daughter-in-law. And 11 fur grandbabies! The love and support of my family, including my husband, sons, siblings, cousins, and the list goes on and on… has been truly pivotal in the success of my campaign. I couldn’t have done it without their love and support.

Many people work behind the scenes for a court of law to function. The Circuit Clerk’s Office manages a court’s non-judicial functions and requires knowledgeable and dedicated staff. This is a role of court and personnel management, administrative duties, and daily organization of functions. This is a role of EXPERIENCE, INSTITUTIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND STRONG RELATIONSHIPS AND NETWORKS, not political ties or ideologies. It is not something that can (or should) be learned on-the-job in a few months or even a few years. I have the knowledge, dedication and experience Boone County needs.

My office – a dedicated team of 46 clerks — is the keeper of the court's record and we are accountable for the court record. We are responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of the court; collecting, accounting for and disbursing all monies paid into the court; and performing other duties, as necessary, to assist the court in performing its duties.

Accurate and timely management of every case is critical from initiation to disposition whether it be minor traffic tickets to more serious criminal offenses such as murder;

A small claims case to a wrongful death case; a heartwarming adoption to more sensitive and emotional cases such as an order of protection or juvenile matters. The list goes on… My office works on these cases to update and preserve these records.

What does the Circuit Clerk's office do?

Why is this relevant to you?

If you or a loved one has ever been involved with the Boone County justice system, whether it be a minor traffic violation or a more serious offense like murder, or if you’ve ever looked up a case or individual on CaseNet, then you have relied on the Circuit Clerk’s Office for accurate record keeping and retention. You want that record to be accurate. You want that record to be accessible. And if there is a problem, you want the accountable party to solve the problem with humility. That’s what I do. That’s what my team does. Anyone within the limits of Boone County, whether you’re currently residing here, visiting from out of town, or even just passing through on your way to the next destination, the role of the Circuit Clerk in the judiciary matters to each and every person currently within the confines of the county.
